Client brief and objectives
The largest companies in the world and others rely on RR Donnelley's scale, scope and insight through a comprehensive range of web-based tools and innovative technology, variable printing services, market-specific and customized supply chain solutions.
Our approach
The main objective was to help them change current perceptions and position themselves separately from the global brand. By moving away from the corporate annual report image by creating a unique online presence. With an interactive portfolio to showcase their work and services to current and potential clients, peers, and staff. By working collaboratively with their creative team we were able to share our knowledge and get the balance of design and content finely tuned. From our initial meetings we were able to plan a group brainstorm and draw up a range of different possibilities. We then went through an iterative process to develop functionality and content during the final stages of the project.
Results and effectiveness
The result is a clean, crisp site that uses accessible HTML, CSS, and jQuery to create Flash-style functionality and animation. The unique horizontal jQuery page slider lets users glide smoothly through the pages, giving them a continual view of all content. The client now has a bespoke manageable online presence to showcase their work that is very simple for them to maintain. Its tone of voice and imagery fits in perfectly with their overall positioning and complements their advertising approach.
Reaction to the website has been very positive from both existing clients and members of staff at RR Donnelley. It has given them the chance to showcase what they do best and help to build a bigger reputation. Winning a Silver at the CIPR Pride Awards and was also Highly Commended at the Scottish Design Awards.
